LAUDERHILL, FL. The Houston Stallions played exceptionally well in their first three games in the US Open 2016 Cricket Tournament. In the semi final (elimination round), however, the team just wasn't able to put up the runs required to win against the Afghanistan National Team, Al-Masafi.
Houston was at bat first and 168 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Al-Masafi played excellent defense. When it was their turn to bat, Al-Masafi scored 171 runs for 3 wickets in just 18 1/2 overs to win the game.
It was a disappointing loss for Houston, however, the experience was amazing for the team. We look forward to participating in this tournament again next year along with many other new teams that will form between now and then.
LAUDERHILL, FL. The final game of the 2016 US Open Cricket Tournament was between the US All-Stars and the Afghanistan National Team, Al-Masafi.
The US All-Stars were at bat first and managed to put up a very respectable 181 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Al-Masafi had to chase and score 182+ to win. They came very close, scoring a total of 179 for 9 wickets in 20 overs, but the US All-Stars were able to come away with the win.
We would like to congratulate both teams for making it to the finals, but especially congratulate the US All-Stars for winning the entire tournament.
LAUDERHILL, FL. In their first quarter final game, the Houston Stallions defeated the Falcons Cricket Club 264 to 74. Houston batted first and in 20 overs, put up 264 runs. The Falcons were up next and only managed to complete 16.5 overs before the tenth out.
LAUDERHILL, FL. For the first time in the US Open Cricket 2016 Tournament, the Houston Stallions batted first. In their previous 2 matches, they batted last. An impressive display of batting was put on and the team managed to put up 264 runs in 20 overs among only 4 batsman. Rizwan Cheema scored well over 100 runs all by himself. In fact, in terms of opening partnerships, a record was broken between Hamza Tariq and Rizwan Cheema these first two batters scored 185 runs themselves.
LAUDERHILL, FL. The Houston Stallions have moved into the US Open Cricket 2016 Tournament's quarter final round. They will play the Falcons Cricket Club this morning at 9 am EST. The match will be aired on ESPN 3.
LAUDERHILL, FL. In an exciting game, the Houston Stallions were able to pull off a win against a fine team. The Indian Lions are made up mostly of players from the West Indies. The Lions were at bat first and put up 168 runs.
Houston started slow but due to excellent batting by William Perkins, Akhil Balachandra and Dikhshanshu Negi towards the end of the match, we were able to pull off a victory with just 5 balls remaining. For those rooting for Houston, it was a nail-biter!

LAUDERHILL, FL. As of 9:30 am EST, opening ceremonies have wrapped up and teams are preparing for the start of the tournament. Our Houston Stallions team will play in the very first game of the tournament scheduled to begin at 11:45 am EST. Here are some pictures from the opening ceremonies.
LAUDERHILL, FL. The Houston Stallions won their first game of the tournament against Al-Masafi, a team representing the country of Afghanistan. Al-Masafi won the toss and chose to bat first. Due to excellent defense by the Stallions, Al-Masafi was only able to score 107 runs before getting out 10 times.
The Stallions had to play catch up when it was their turn at bat and with only 6 members of their team at bat, managed to score 111 runs, ending the game. 4 consecutive sixers were made to end the game.
Dikhshanshu Negi of the Houston Stallions was named the Man of the Match.
